CHICAGO, Oct. 10, 2007—Slack Barshinger, a leading business-to-business marketing communications agency, and Aon Corporation, a leading provider of risk management services, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, human capital and management consulting, and specialty insurance underwriting, were recently honored with the prestigious Reed Exhibitions Face-to-Face Award during the 12th Annual Creative Excellence in Business Advertising (CEBA) Awards.
Aon and Slack Barshinger were awarded a CEBA in the b-to-b event category during an Oct. 3 ceremony, hosted by American Business Media, in the Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
The award recognized Aon’s innovative exhibition at the Risk and Insurance Management Society’s (RIMS) 2006 Annual Conference. The integrated program has garnered a total of seven major industry awards over the last year and helped generate 1,000 leads from the 2,727 in attendance at the RIMS show, making it Aon’s most successful RIMS conference yet.
Relying on clever, non-traditional tactics themed around the board game RISK™, the program used direct mail, an interactive game for show attendees and brochures to produce a 6-to-1 return on the campaign’s budget. The campaign was especially notable because it did not rely on advertising. More information on the campaign can be found in a case study at http://www.slackbarshinger.com/pages/casestudies/aon/index.html.
Headquartered in Chicago with a two-year-old office in San Jose, Calif., Slack Barshinger is a partner-owned and partner-led integrated marketing communications agency that works exclusively with business-to-business enterprises to build strong business brands and help create profitable demand for their products and services.
“We are honored to receive the CEBA, which is increasingly regarded as ‘The Clio’ for business-to-business marketers,” said Gary Slack, senior partner at Slack Barshinger. “The award also affirms our strong strategic partnership with Aon, which made this project so enjoyable.”
Judges for the 2007 CEBA Awards pored through hundreds of entries before selecting the 33 finalists competing in 11 categories. This year’s panel of judges—a “Who’s Who” in the industry—included: Nader Ashway, The Ashway Group; Mark DiMassimo, DiMassimo Goldstein; Nina DiSesa, McCann Erickson New York; Aurelio Saiz, OgilvyOne; Don Schneider, BBDO; and Doria Steedman, Partnership for a Drug-Free America.
Honoring outstanding achievement in business media advertising (which includes print publications, Web sites, in-person events and integrated media campaigns), the CEBAs enhance relationships between advertisers, agencies and publishers. The CEBAs have become a gold standard of creative excellence recognized by advertising peers and clients alike, and highlight the breadth, reach and innovation of some of the world’s top agencies.
